C. and R. met over a story. It was in graduate school, after a class, while R. was waiting for the bus. Later, at a bar named Babe's, they made a deal before closing time to swap works of writing. The conversations about writing, literature, books, the best cup of coffee in town, and the things that make us curious and the things that make us afraid haven't stopped since.
So, I've entered into a friendly photo competition with some associates, and this week, the first week of the competition, required the inclusion of a tree in the photo. This one was clicked earlier this afternoon. Thoughts?
Excellent Composition! (Way to use the Rule of Thirds:). Love the worm's eye perspective and play between the golden leaves and the snow. I'd like to know more about the photo competition. Are you submitting shots weekly? Cool!
We're just starting out with the competition, so everything is still in the working-it-out phase. Right now, we're using a weekly theme. For example, the first week the theme was trees, and the second week the theme was our day jobs, and this week the theme is christmas lights. We're still trying to get everybody into the swing of things, so there has been no real "competition" to it yet, but more of a general critiquing / commentary. We're likely going to setup a website in a month or so if we still have enough interest among the group (we have a mix of people, some who are not photographers, per se, so we are not sure if interest will wane amongst them).
Anyway, the above picture was taken with an iPhone, in part because it was a spur of the moment in the snow snap, and in part to show that a decent picture can be taken with something less than a 12 megapixel digital SLR. The picture has its issues, but came out decent, I thought, for having no real control.
